Notes / Taper:
This was a pretty bad night. The concert was fun and the light show spectacular.
As usual, I was around idiots. My seats were PERFECT. The second row on raised
lower level directly straight back from band. Soundboard in front of me. However
as luck would have it, I had idiots around me. The first was "monkey boy with
bandanna on head. During the show he would grab the rails and bounce up and down
like a chimpanzee. the second was the "mystery guest. The seats to my left were
continuously filled by the next mystery guest until removed by security. The
last was a prick from Rock Hill, SC. He shows up with his friend drunk and
probably jacked on some stimulant. HE talks loudly and my son asks him to be
quiet. Also mentions that i am taping. (Bad Move!) During the show he tries to
sabotage my equipment.
First he pours water on the floor where my gear rests and succeed in getting my
preamp wet from bottom. (Eventually it was ruined the next day). What made this
guy the most angry was that i had an extra ticket that could not be used so I
used it to set my equipment since the floor was wet. IT pissed him off SO much
that the seat was not taken that he followed my son to my car and wanted to
start a situation. What makes it even funnier is that i didn't turn off the
Olympus and the whole situation was still recording. Needless to say, no fight
ensued. son learned lesson about idiots and I am now reordering my preamp. The
microtrack went crazy and thank GOD I made a back up with the LS-10 just to see
if I could pull off two recordings. Luckily I got one. Microtrack makes great
recordings whent hey aren't schizophrenic. Toward the end, evidently the water
spilt affected the 9v contacts causing popping during Lateralus and Vicarious.
They have been cleaned up with Adobe Audition. Samples included as mp3. I also
have tweakbird. will include them later. For now enjoy!
Notes / Galen:
The
recording is actually pretty good; a bit better than the taper gave it credit
for though. Though the vocals are a bit buried (but what else is new?) the
overall result is a good, clean audience omni recording. That said, this is a
good, solid recording but nothing that is truly astounding about it - not that,
really, any of the recordings from this tour are jaw dropping or astounding
compared to a random other. For the most part, pretty much all of these new
recordings are of relative high quality. This is no exception although there are
times when the audience is a bit not overpowering but 'present'. This is either
good or bad depending on preferences.
