Notes:
The first part of 2007 was an active time for Tool. By
mid-January the band was co-headlining the Big Day Out festival, along with two
Tool-only gigs, in Australia & New Zealand in support of 10,000 Days. With a
setlist faithful to the year before the band delivered some classic performances
of material that fans in that part of the world had not heard live. Although I
do know a few folks who traveled from Australia to Hawaii for the performance in
August 2006. From Down-Under, Tool delivered five incredibly intimate
performances in Japan to lucky fans - smaller venues than Tool played during the
US mini-tour; I believe one of them has a max of 1,200. Imagine that. After a short hiatus as Danny injured his
bicep after messing with a boxer (really) the band went ahead with their summer
2007 US Arena Tour. They started in Las Vegas in April & ended up in New Jersey
by mid July hitting the deep south & also played many secondary markets. A brief
stint of European Festival performances in Autumn led to a break before the
band, once again, hit the road to continue performing in support of 10K Days.
Many fans, collectors & tapers openly stated the voracity, strength, calculated
professionalism of the (largely) spot-on performances of the final tour leg from
November to December 2007. A common complaint pertains to the identical set from
night to night - even for the final back-to-back performances in
Las Vegas, NV @ The Pearl. As the 10K Day era of Tool is now completed, the
collectives wonder what will be the next direction for Tool? The last night, MJK
is quoted as saying this is not the end although we do not know when the next
beginning will be.
