Deja Vu?
Last Updated:

This short summer tour consisted of a total of 16 dates spread out over the Continental US with two dates in Ontario, Canada. Tool did not veer from the set list throughout this tour; at all. Essentially, the band dropped 10K Days/WFM from the roster and performed, essentially, the exact same set list at each performance of this tour as they did in 2006/2007 w/o substituting Right In Two for Flood. In other words, no variance. There was rumor, generated from Justin via an interview with Rolling Stone, that Tool were to change some songs around/modify & do a cover. Neither occurred. Speculation concerning the cover was King Crimson's "21st Century Schizoid Man" although this was never verified - although MJK did do vocals for a cover version of said song. This particular era of Tool has left a lot of true Tool fans, collectors & of course tapers 'split'. Split between appreciation of what Tool delivers onstage/live and the somewhat kick-in-the-teeth attitude towards their fans (i.e.: repetitive set lists, militant anti-taping stance). Compared with other tours; Tool performed less songs for approximately the same amount of time. Dare cu.org imply that Tool, at this stage, Tool have adapted a somewhat jam-band paradigm with an audience consisting of hipsters who truly think they have an awareness of reality that others simply are incapable of perceiving. Uh oh - fairly sure that is correlative to a Phish fan? With the +~14 minute Lateralus (guest drum solo) we are bordering on hippy-area... sorry, it's true. Watch out all you 'enlightened' college drop outs & minimum wage graduates next thing you know you'll be shedding some skin at a rave. Recordings from this era vary in quality but for the most part are all quite good. As of this date there are a few performances w/o sources but I'm 99% sure that each date was taped by at least some Billy-Bob with at least some quasi-decent hard disk recorder who may or may not be sitting on their recording because there are no sources currently available. Sheesh. As it is, we may not hold our collective breath for what the band may do next but then again we do, still, wait with restless abandon for the next opportunity to see this fantastic, complex & motivating band live once again...

Notes on live recordings/sources:
The overwhelming majority of live Tool recordings on this site are sourced from CD, cassette or DVD/VHS usually sourced from the taper or a verified, definitive low generation copy - as noted - and not from various downloaded material. The recordings found on this site, unless noted, are not sourced from FLAC, SHN,  or sourced from downloaded video files. Please note that this holds true to ~the 10K Days era. From 2006 on, virtually all recordings of Tool have been released via various torrents. All recordings found on this site have as much legitimate source & lineage history as possible. You can not download any complete recording on this site; only 1 minute (or less)  MP3 samples are provided to give the collector a reference for the source. This entire website is for referential & archival use only & in no way is to be used for commercial gain of any kind.
