Interesting recording. The
setlist itself is enough to warrant a curious interest in this performance.
The sound of this recording is very similar to the
11.03.96
show & is so unique in
sound & the timing of the
shows are quite close, it probably is the work of the same taper. Here, the
sound seems like it is more behind
you than in front of you for some reason. But, the quality of the recording
as far as crispness, clearness &
nice sounding is concerned is definitely positive. Sound is very good - but
unique & may take a little while to
get used to. Also, I detect a faint layer of fuzz underneath the sound which
makes me think this was transferred from cassette to CD sometime down the
line. The crowd at this show is a little...annoying but not the worst ever.
Finally, this is one of the only times that Tool has ever played
Stinkfist
last....interesting, isn't
it? Although not an amazingly rare or completely interesting gig, there is a
place for it in the impressive library that Tool collector's have managed to
scrounge together. If anything, the setlist is the most intriguing element
of this nights performance. The recording could be considered the first of
the real, real good sounding recordings from 1996 if you looked at it that
way... it is very, very wacky. The order I mean...
