Band: Dredg
Location: Detroit, MI, USA @ The Shelter
Date: June 6, 2003

Equipment: DAT > Sony PCM-M1 > Sony MZ-R700 (SBD Patch)

Notes: The soundboard recording of this show was rather interesting. It really would not have been possible if
not for a fellow taper who hooked me up, for one. Second, my damn Sony MD was eating up batteries like it
was pregnant. I don't know what the hell was going on, I tossed in a new battery before the show & it ate it up
in something like 30 minutes, so I had to change it twice. Maybe I was over-reacting a little bit because I didn't
want something lame to happen to the SBD but, damn, it was bothering me. When I listen to just the SBD, it
sound good, of course, but seems to lack a bit of depth. I think that the matrix of my AUD recording with this
SBD is a rather nice representation of this show.

Notes: This was my first -real- experience with Dredg. Previous to the show, I had heard maybe 3 or 4 songs,
definitely not enough to base a real opinion on. I was extremely impressed with the overall quality,
professionalism, enjoyability & also the performance of Dredg. What a show. I really, truly, hope that this group
blows up because they have the talent & the attitude to be something very, very cool. This band is one of the
few that are completely cool with tapers. They figure that the more exposure they get, the more people will hear
their music & buy their records - which is very true. The band allows & does not mind tapers plugging into the
soundboard, video-taping them or simply taping them anyway they can. I only wish that more bands were this
cool to tapers. Fact is, really, I wish more bands were of this caliber. The lead singer complained a little bit about
feedback coming in his IEM but there really was none, seems like an issue with his monitor as there was no
audible feedback that I could or can pick out.
