Notes: Ok, everyone knows that this is not the Doors but the 'Doors'. With only two remaining members in the band, Manzarek + Krieger (Morrison is dead & Densmore is suing the band for use of the name), it is a stretch to really say you are going to a Doors show. Think the last Doors show in Michigan is when they played Cobo Arena in 1970. The lead singer is Ian Asturbury, ex-lead singer of the Cult & he does a very good Jim Morrison impersonation. Think that he must've watched quite a bit of film footage as he mimicked Morrison with not only vocal stylings, looks but also the swagger that Morrison had on stage. Speaking of Morrison, I bet he would be happy to know that 2 of his band mates let fly a huge picture of him on a back-drop during Riders On The Storm. Imagine, a commodity after 30 years of being dead. That is something. The recording came out better than I had anticipated & there is low crowd noise. Thing is, the show was just a little boring & lacked the -omph- which I so desire when a band is on stage. One cool thing, a lot of people really liked it so I'm simply not going to knock them down for that. At the end, they invited pretty much anyone who could fit on stage, up on stage to sing, dance & be merry with the band during Soul Kitchen. That was also cool. Oh, Peace Frog was not played due to time constraints by the band, venue or both - too bad, that's my favorite Door's song, if I have one that is. It was a great time though as I went with my best-man, his sister 'Dre & their Dad, 'Boogie'. Boogie bought us all tickets for the show & I'll tell you, any show is a good one when you throw in those cast of characters.
