Band: Evan Dando (The Lemonheads)
Location: Detroit, MI, USA @ The Magic Stick
Date: June 19, 2003

Equipment: Mini Disc --- Core Sound Binaurals (bass roll-off) > Sharp MT-180
Taping Position: Front Of Stack - Left

Notes: I honestly was not expecting too much, which is good as the Lemonheads gave about what I was
expecting: a good time but nothing earth shattering. For some reason, the concert was billed as Evan Dando who
is the lead singer of the Lemonheads, now-defunct. I find this odd as the lead guitarist & the lovely Juliana
Hatfield on bass (who was a touring partner & on the album 'Come On Feel') were members of the Lemonheads.
Why not just bill the show as the band rather than Evan Dando, get larger venues, more people, more money &
the like? Anyway, enough of my rant. Evan looked pretty good, considering, looks like he kicked heroin but is
still on planet "I still don't dress like an adult". Fucking rock stars act like they are 16, honestly. His voice was
not the best this night but seemed to get a little more in tune with the music later on in the gig. To be honest, I
didn't care, I've always been a Lemonheads fan & seeing Juliana Hatfield sing + play bass was just a bonus to
hearing some of my favorite Lemonhead songs live. One thing, I really, really, really, really, really, really could
have gone without hearing Evan Dando's rendition of 'Big Gay Heart' live; always skip by it when it's on the disc.
Ah well, what can you do? Towards the end, Evan did 6 songs totally acoustic, that was pretty cool. Although I
do not know the names of all of them, I am certain that he played Outdoor Type & Into Your Arms.
