Band: Meshuggah Location: Toledo, OH, USA @ The Sports Arena Date: Oct. 23, 2002 Opening for: Tool
Equipment: Mini Disc --- Core Sound Binaurals > Battery Box > Sony MZ-R700 Taping Position: Front Of Stack - Left
Notes: Unlike other Meshuggah masters, I didn't move around much nor was late for this performance. Made it a point to get to the venue & situated early enough to check out Meshuggah pretty much un-obstructed. Having gone to the show solo, I was rather pleased to simply stand there & watch Meshuggah do what it is they do. Not bad. Listening to the recording months later, am pleased to say it came out nicely & that the band is rather interesting. Think many people may have the assumption that they are dark, morbid even but they are actually rather interesting & introspective. The agressive sound is something that may take some people a little while to listen to but they do some absolutely amazing things with the instruments. Good stuff. The second to last song, I moved to Front Of Board as I got paranoid, thought a security guy who was walking through the crowd, spotted my mics. Not much more to say, really. Except, I bought a $7 32oz beer that had a straw + lid so the enjoyment of Meshuggah was amplified, as was Tool.
