Band: The Doves
Location: Pontiac, MI, USA @ Clutch Cargos
Date: Sept. 8th, 2002

Equipment: Mini Disc --- Giant-Squid Powered Battery Box Binaural > Sony MD MZ-R700
Taping Position: Front Of Stack - Left

Notes: Very cool show & relatively short. The Doves are a good live band, lots of weird/odd noises they throw
into the songs to give it a little 'spacey' feeling. The venue itself is a little smaller than St. Andrews Hall in Detroit
(if anyone knows what I'm talking about) but is in much better condition. Odd, it's in a huge gothic-looking church that
seems like it should be in England, not a crappy town like Pontiac. This was the Dove's opening night for their
US Tour for 2002. Why did they choose Pontiac, MI? I have no idea. I suppose it's better than nothing. Was
rather intrigued by this band as, when they came on stage, I realized that they were the same English guys I saw
just walking around the venue, completely unmolested by fans. No one recognized them; I bet that is good & it is
also bad in a way. The recording came out quite nicely, actually. The speakers at CC are relatively new & rather
sweet sounding. Surprised the GSAL mics held up as tightly as they did. This is a band I would recommend to
pretty much anyone to just go & check out. These guys are rather talented & put on a good show. They also had
a nice projection screen showing random movies & images behind them as they played. Of course, I could see
maybe 2% of the movies due to the huge stack of speakers in front of me. Oh well, a good trade-off.
