Notes: For some reason, I've always liked Jewel's music. I actually bought 'Pieces Of You' way back in '94 or
'95, I think
(when it came out). My wife bought, um, her second album & its not too bad. So, I decided to go see
this show with my best-man Justin. Thankfully, we didn't look like two homosexuals having a romantic night out
although he did his best to say things like
"why are you walking in front of me, I'm sorry about earlier...come here man, I need
a hug.... why don't we communicate anymore"
just to piss me off. Fucker. Anyway, Jewel was pretty good this night. It
was a completely sold-out show at a place where she graduated high school from, Interlochen Academy in
Interlochen, MI. I grew up around these parts & believe me Jewel is a -big- name to come on tour. The kind of
band Traverse City pulls in are REO Speedwagon, Journey, Kansas & their ilk & also soft rock like Natalie Cole
& George Benson. For those that don't know, Interlochen Academy is a place where gifted rich kids go to
pursuse music instead of basic education like a public school high school diploma. Hell, Jewel was there so it's
cool, right? I was quite amused when the power was cut/blown during 'Hands' - she sat by the stage as the
technicians tried to figure it out & signed autographs for fans who were standing down there, like Interlochen
students - pretty cool, really. The thing I can't figure out is... Jewel blew the power at a concert? What alternate
dimension is Interlochen living in where Jewel blows anything...power-wise, of course? Tickets were fucking
expensive - $45. Tell you, it was worth it. I'd go see Jewel again but bring Sarah for sure - definietly a chick
show. Oh yeah, I feel a little bad about this but I couldn't help but stare at her bouncing, assets, throughout the
performance, was very close to the stage + stack. During one of her acoustic songs, Sarah called me - it was
appropriate I think. Also, this recording is incomplete. I had no idea that Jewel would play longer than 80 mins -
she played for a little under 2 hours straight w/3 encore songs. Even left before it was entirely done.
