Band: My Morning Jacket

Date: Sept. 8, 2003
Opening Band For: The Doves

Equipment: Mini Disc --- Giant-Squid Powered Battery Box Binaural > Sony MZ-R700
Taping Position: Front Of Stack - Left

Notes: Possibly, the best 'unknown' bands I've ever heard (meaning: never heard of them before seeing them live). Before
I saw them, I'd never heard of them nor had any idea of what they could do live. In some resoects, they were
better than the Doves. Only issue was the lead singer repeated himself regarding buying CDs/T-shirts twice but
oh well...have a feeling they were not getting paid for this gig & were making money by merchandise alone. The
energy these guys put out was amazing; twenty-somethings who looked kind of like hippy-lumberjacks-Brit-pop
but have a Southern Rock twinge. Lead singer used a Y-shaped guitar & I kept expecting them to bust out some
Slayer riffs but they relied upon nice melodic hooks & great melody. I thought they were British, being that the
Doves are from Manchester, England & these guys just had a Stone Roses-ish hook to the music. But, they are
from, of all places, Louisville, KY, USA. Check these guys out if you can. Some friends saw this back at Field
Day in NJ in 2003 & didn't care for them much so opinions will vary. Me, I would definetly check them out
again if the situation presented itself. These guys have a rather spacey vibe as well, very nice & rather unique.
