Notes: As for the actual night of hanging out with Sarah, getting dinner, some drinks & then walking on campus
to a concert, the night was a good experience. However, this guy simply sucks-ass - you may know him from
the middlke 9-'s group "Verve Pipe". I held out judgement before I saw the show as this was an all acoustic
performance, I didn't think it would be awful. No, it was terrible. Not only is his music dribble but he feels that
he is something special seeing as how the Verve Pipe are from East Lansing. You may know the Verve Pipe
from used CD stores, BMG or Columbia House mail-order & also the 'Frehman' which, even 8 years later, Brian
Vander Ark sings like it is making him money. He did a terrible-butchering of The Beatle's "Lucy In The Sky'"
that Lennon surely rolled-over in his grave. At least the show was acoustic...but is that really grounds for going
to see this dude live? Doubtful. Still, people have actually pestered me about this recording... they want it for
some reason. Verve Pipe fans? To those people, listen to me here: there is a soundboard recording of this show
somewhere. I saw it with my own eyes, the sound-guy was taping from the board, and not for the band. So,
find that, I'm sure you would really enjoy it. One more thing, Vander Ark brought up a bartender at 'The Peanut
Barrell" (a local bar I spent many a night) to play harmonica on a few songs, I think they were old friends or
something. Also, a few other guests came up to play with him... funny, no one from the Verve Pipe... is Vander
Ark too good for them or is he like: "no, this is my solo gig". Bah.
